Targeted Reading Growth: 2011-2012 School Year.
This school base project was grounded in my knowledge about Q-IRI assessments from ECI 543 and ELM 533. In September and October of the 2011-2012 school year, I was able to gather data about our sixth grade students who were struggling with reading. I used resources from ECI 543 and ELM 533 to create a basis for parent and teacher understanding. I was able to make systematic, research-based recommendations to the students' teachers and parents. My co-worker, Shannon Hardy, headed up additional research on the students and made a presentation to the faculty about our findings. Through our work, we were able to help our school create a more systematic way of providing interventions for our struggling readers.
